The Australian BMX National Championships were held at Devil's Playground, Hobart, Tasmania March 27-31st. Tanya Bailey took out the Elite Womens title, and Luke Madill took out another Elite Mens title.

The 2002 UCI - BMX World Championship & Challenge took place in Sao Leopoldo, Paulinia - Brazil. Located roughly 3 hours south of Sao Paolo, in the Southern part of Brazil, the event was held at the Society Orpheu fairgrounds.

Elite Men - Wade Bootes, 3rd.
Elite Women - Natarsha Williams, 4th.
Elite Women - Tanya Bailey, 8th
Junior Women - Melissa Jolliffe, 6th
Australia finished in 7th place overall in the medal tally count with just the one bronze medal.

15 Girls - Chloe Macpherson, World Champion
11 Boys - Joshua Callan, World Champion
Australia finished in 6th place on the medal tally, with 3 Gold and 4 Bronze medals.
